Meet the German nu-metalcore band, Heruin!
From your own point of view, how would you describe the German metalcore scene, overall? Germany has the highest numbers in metalcore sales, so people must enjoy it over here. I do still think we're in a transitional phase away from more traditional styles like heavy metal, thrash, and death metal, but modern subgenres like metalcore and deathcore is on the rise both in terms of popularity as well as successful bands. German metalcore bands that come to mind would be Caliban, Annisokay, Eskimo Callboy, Callejon, We Butter the Bread with Butter, and Callejon. Maybe one day you'll see us on tour with these guys. Back in May of this year, you released your debut EP “Addict” via Famined Records. Can you tell us more about this release? We are beyond flattered, proud, and lucky to be able to work with Famined Records. They motivated and pushed us and made this great release possible. The 'Addict' EP has five songs on it that are all pretty heavy and has drawn comparisons to Sworn In and Korn. As a band, we're into modern metalcore and nu metal so our sound on these songs really reflect that. Even though we recently released this EP and are busy making sure everyone gets a chance to hear it, we are also super excited for the future. For those who haven't heard it yet, what kind of songs can we indeed expect on this record? The style of these songs is best defined as a mix between old school nu metal and modern metalcore. We have some more catchy, melodic tracks, but there's also some heavy bangers on the EP to balance it all out. As for the lyrical themes and emotions you'll experience, prepare yourself for depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and a pulsating feeling between your legs. Let’s focus on your writing process. How did you approach it for this EP? It's actually quite simple. We took some drugs and were ready to go. Honestly, it's kinda hard to remember the process because we were so high. But I guess it all worked out because the EP sounds pretty freakin' sick. You also released a music video for the title track “Addict”. How was the shooting experience? If I'm being completely honest, none of us had ever performed the song before at the time of filming that video. We wrote and recorded the song, but never got around to actually getting together to perform it in a live setting, so it was a new feeling for us. In the end, we looked pretty whack but video editing saved the day. The last words are for you! Thanks, Satan for always believing in us. We look forward to being the first band to do a tour in hell.
