In the spring of 2020, Hammok decided to finally start making new music again. After a long search for the perfect vocalist for the band, guitarist Tobias Osland was tired of waiting, and took matters into his own hands. At a time when the world had suddenly turned upside down, Tobias felt he had a reason to shout. Like he had something important to say.
“Resume” comes first in a series of five singles. The song is a result of its context, a chaotic everyday life with pandemics, racism uprisings and what the band calls a strange internet culture, with tiktok and only fans. A world where one part of the population is starving, while others' billion-dollar fortunes are only growing. Resume describes the chaotic feeling of hope and expectations that keeps turning into disappointment. Expectations one has for those elected by the people to make the world a better place but keep doing the opposite. A feeling of craving for something to hold on to, yet being left with nothing but blind hope.
